Choosing childcare Liverpool families can trust is one of the most important decisions you will make during your child’s early years. The right early learning service should offer more than convenient hours. It should provide a safe, nourishing and growth-oriented environment where children feel a genuine sense of belonging, enjoy fun and learning, and build the confidence to become capable learners.
In 2026, families are also looking more closely at the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the National Quality Framework (NQF), Child Care Subsidy changes and a centre’s approach to safety, inclusion and communication.
This guide explains what to look for when comparing child care Liverpool services and why Rainbow Hut Early Learning Centre Liverpool may be the right fit for your family.
What types of childcare are available in Liverpool?
Families searching for childcare in Liverpool may find several different care options:
- Long day care: Usually offers extended weekday hours for children from infancy through to preschool age.
- Preschool programs: Generally focus on children aged three to five and support the transition to school.
- Family day care: Provides care in an approved educator’s home, often within a smaller group setting.
- Occasional care: May suit families who need flexible or irregular bookings.
- Outside School Hours Care (OSHC): Designed for school-aged children before and after school, as well as during holidays.
When comparing services, consider your child’s age, your work commitments, preferred days, travel route and the type of experience you want your child to have each day.
At Rainbow Hut, our purpose-built early learning environment includes two age-appropriate rooms:
- Penguins: Our room for children aged approximately 0–3 years.
- Koalas: Our room for children aged approximately 3–5 years, with a strong focus on school readiness.
EYLF in childcare Liverpool: learning through play
The Early Years Learning Framework, or EYLF, guides learning and development for children from birth to five years and supports their transition to school. The current framework, EYLF v2.0, centres on the vision of belonging, being and becoming.
It supports children’s development across five important learning outcomes:
- Children have a strong sense of identity.
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
- Children are confident and involved learners.
- Children are effective communicators.
A quality childcare Liverpool service should be able to explain how the EYLF shapes everyday experiences: not simply display the framework on a wall.
Look for a program that includes:
- Play-based learning that follows children’s interests.
- Intentional teaching where educators extend children’s thinking and language.
- Opportunities for creativity, movement, sensory exploration and problem-solving.
- Individual observations and learning stories.
- Meaningful indoor and outdoor experiences.
- A balance of fun and learning throughout the day.
At Rainbow Hut Early Learning Centre Liverpool, educators plan experiences to encourage curiosity, confidence and independence. Children can explore their interests while developing social, emotional, physical, language and thinking skills through fun learning.
Understanding the NQF and quality ratings
The National Quality Framework (NQF) is Australia’s national system for regulating and improving early childhood education and care. It brings together national laws and regulations, the National Quality Standard, approved learning frameworks and the assessment and rating process.
The National Quality Standard covers seven quality areas:
- Educational program and practice
- Children’s health and safety
- Physical environment
- Staffing arrangements
- Relationships with children
- Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
- Governance and leadership
You can learn more through ACECQA’s National Quality Standard information and the Australian Government’s National Quality Framework overview.
When visiting a centre, ask:
- What is the service’s current quality rating?
- When was the service last assessed?
- What areas are identified in its Quality Improvement Plan?
- How does the team use family feedback to improve practice?
A rating is useful, but it should not be the only factor in your decision. A tour, conversation with educators and observation of the children’s experience will help you understand whether the service is the right personal fit for your family.
You can also ask to view the centre’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP). At Rainbow Hut, continuous improvement forms part of our commitment to providing meticulous, safe and meaningful education and care.
Safety, wellbeing and the children-first policy
Safety should be visible in every part of a childcare service, from arrival and collection procedures to supervision, hygiene, sleep routines and emergency planning.
During a tour, look for:
- Secure entry and exit procedures.
- Clean, well-maintained rooms and outdoor areas.
- Clear supervision of children.
- Safe spaces for rest, active play and quiet time.
- Educators who respond warmly and respectfully.
- Practical procedures for allergies, medication and medical needs.
- A calm approach to settling children into care.
In 2026, families should also ask how a centre is implementing current child safety expectations, including staff training, incident reporting, child protection procedures and safeguards for digital images and communication.
Rainbow Hut follows a children-first policy. This means that children’s safety, wellbeing, rights and best interests guide our daily decisions. We want every child to feel protected, heard, valued and confident enough to explore.
Inclusion, multiculturalism and respect for every family
Liverpool is a wonderfully diverse community, and your child’s early learning environment should reflect and respect that diversity.
Ask how the service supports:
- Different cultural backgrounds and traditions.
- Home languages and family communication preferences.
- Individual beliefs and family values.
- Children with additional needs or developmental differences.
- Inclusive books, toys, music and learning resources.
- Respectful behaviour guidance.
- Partnerships with families and relevant professionals.
At Rainbow Hut, we place a strong value on multiculturalism, diversity and respect for individual beliefs. We take a personalised approach because every child is unique. Our aim is to create a community where children can see themselves, their families and the wider world represented in positive and meaningful ways.
Our values include positivity, professionalism, open communication, continuous learning and respect for the broader community.

School readiness: preparing children for a confident start
School readiness is not only about recognising letters and numbers. Children also need to develop confidence, self-help skills, communication, emotional regulation, resilience and the ability to participate in a group.
A thoughtful school readiness program may include:
- Early literacy and communication.
- Early numeracy and problem-solving.
- Fine and gross motor development.
- Independence with belongings, eating and self-care.
- Listening, turn-taking and collaboration.
- Confidence in new environments.
- Respect for community, culture and others.
- Opportunities to express ideas creatively.
Rainbow Hut’s School Readiness Program is designed to support children holistically. Through fun and learning, children build capacity for the transition to school while continuing to enjoy their childhood.
We also use technology thoughtfully, including smart boards, videos, apps and interactive resources. Technology is used to extend learning and engagement: not replace hands-on play, conversation, creativity or relationships.

CCS 2026–27: what families should know
The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) helps eligible families reduce the cost of approved early childhood education and care. Your subsidy is generally paid directly to the service, and your family pays the remaining gap.
For the 2026–27 financial year:
- The 3-Day Guarantee provides eligible families with at least 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, regardless of activity.
- The activity test may still affect subsidised hours above that minimum.
- CCS is based on factors including family income, recognised activity and the hourly fee cap.
- Hourly rate caps and family income thresholds increased from 6 July 2026.
Published 2026–27 guidance reports a maximum CCS percentage of up to 90% for families within the lowest income threshold, with the percentage reducing as income increases. For centre-based care for children below school age, the reported hourly cap is approximately $15.19 for 2026–27.
These figures are provided as general information only. Your actual entitlement will depend on your circumstances, and the fee charged by a service may be higher than the hourly cap. For the most accurate information, use the Services Australia CCS information and recognised participation guidance.
When comparing fees, ask:
- What is the daily fee before CCS?
- What is included: meals, nappies, incursions or special activities?
- Are public holidays or absences charged?
- What notice is required to change or end a booking?
- Can the centre help you understand your estimated gap fee?
Questions to ask when visiting childcare Liverpool centres
Take this checklist with you when touring services:
- How will you help my child settle into care?
- Which educators will work with my child each day?
- How do you document and share children’s learning?
- How much outdoor time do children receive?
- How are sleep, meals and toileting managed?
- How do you support children with additional needs?
- How do you include families’ cultures and home languages?
- What communication tools do you use?
- What happens if my child becomes unwell?
- Can I see the weekly program and QIP?
- What are the enrolment, waitlist and cancellation arrangements?
The most important question is often: Do the educators genuinely know and care about the children? Notice whether children are greeted by name, whether educators get down to their level and whether the atmosphere feels calm, positive and welcoming.
